WICHITA, Kan. (CatchItKansas) – Jayden Garrison of Little River ended his high school career impressively playing the Shrine Bowl, KBCA All-Star basketball game, KABC ALL-State baseball game and All-Star football in eight Thu.
“I wouldn’t trade it for anything else, meeting all these teammates and coaches was something I will never forget,” said Garrison. “I made a lot of new relationships and it was a lot of fun.”
The multisport star helped lead Little River football to a state championship in 2020, recording over 2,600 yards of offense. On the court, he finished with more than 2,000 career points.
âAs a multisport athlete, I feel like this is a huge advantage because you have to face a lot more adversity throughout the year and you don’t have the time to yourself. focus on one thing, âhe said. “You meet a lot more new teammates and you have to get along with a lot more people and coaches.”
But for the first time in his life, Garrison will focus on one sport next year as he continues his basketball career at Hutchinson Community College.
âI feel like when I get to Hutch I’m going to be shocked to play a sport,â Garrison said. âI will be able to focus on one thing every day of the year and that will be really good. Hope I see a lot of improvement.
He said that becoming a multisport athlete was the most helpful for his playing on the court, and he encouraged kids to try all sports.
âIf I have anything to say to kids who are struggling to find their sport⦠it’s to try all sports,â he said. “It might not be your sport, but at least you can say you’ve tried and met new people along the way.”
