Lane Wiley’s COVID-19 test site opens today as city increases capacity

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Three more COVID-19 testing sites will open in Jacksonville on Wednesday and Thursday as the city and neighboring counties grapple with an increase in the number of new COVID-19 cases. Local hospitals have seen beds fill with an influx of new patients.

On Wednesday, the Lane Wiley Senior Center on Wiley Road will open for testing. Then on Thursday, the sites of the Emmett Reed and Cuba Hunter community centers will begin administering tests.

On Monday, weather issues halted COVID-19 testing at a Neptune Beach facility, and then the testing site closed again early Tuesday as it had reached capacity.

The telehealth provider said on Tuesday its capacity was 250 tests, but noted that work is underway on software updates that will expand its testing capacity throughout the week.
