It’s not too early to think about Christmas – Mississippi’s Best Community Newspaper

No, it’s not too early to start thinking about Christmas, at least not about Christmas at Natchez.

Christmas in Natchez is holding its annual Christmas in July fundraiser, scheduled for July 28 in Dunleith, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Each year, the money raised during this event helps pay for Christmas decorations and festivities for the Natchez community.

Thanks to the Hallmark movie filmed in Natchez last year, the Christmas in Natchez committee has raised enough funds to support a new display of animated Christmas rhymes for this year at Memorial Park. The composition of this display is top secret and will be revealed on the Dunleith grounds during the July 28 fundraiser.

Natchez has a wonderful tradition of celebrating the Christmas season. Many of us remember road trips through the International Paper Co. factory in Natchez to see its annual Christmas exhibit, which still delights the Natchez children each year on the Natchez Cliff. And our Christmas tree lightings and fireworks are second to none and start the Christmas season in earnest for the Natchez kids and their families.

Tickets to the Christmas fundraiser in July are $50 each and include hors d’oeuvres and two specialty cocktails and a cash bar, plus the chance to preview this year’s new exhibit for children at Memorial Park.

This year’s Christmas tree lighting, which will include a winter wonderland for children, is scheduled for Saturday, November 26.

None of the delightful events that our families enjoy at Christmas would be possible without the hard work and fundraising efforts of the members of the Natchez Christmas Committee. Please consider supporting them by attending the Christmas event in July or making a donation.
